Charlecote Park Interior. 4 heraldic shields, left to right:

  • Arms of w:Reynold Grey, 2nd Baron Grey of Ruthin (c.1322-1388), who married Eleanor Le Strange of Knokyn. Arms: Grey of Ruthin impaling Le Strange of Knokyn. These are the arms of Strange of Blackmere: Argent, two lions passant in pale gules (a cadet branch of Strange of Knokyn). The arms of Strange of Knokyn are: Gules, two lions passant in pale argent
  • Arms of w:Reynold Grey, 3rd Baron Grey of Ruthin (c.1362-1440) (son of 2nd Baron Grey of Ruthin), who married firstly, Margaret de Ros, by whom he had six children, and secondly, Joan Astley, whose descendants were the Grey family of Groby, including Queen Lady Jane Grey. Arms: Grey of Ruthin impaling Astley
  • Sir William Lucy of Charlecote, married Eleanor Grey, a daughter of w:Reynold Grey, 2nd Baron Grey of Ruthin. Arms Lucy impaling Grey of Ruthin
  • Sir William Lucy (born 1436) of Charlecote (son of Sir William Lucy of Charlecote and Eleanor Grey), MP for Bedfordshire 1467-8 & 1472-5, married Margaret Brecknock, a daughter and co-heiress of John Brecknock of Studham, Bedfordshire, Treasurer to King Henry VI, as the stained glass window at right records (Source: Richardson, Douglas, Magna Carta Ancestry: A Study in Colonial and Medieval Families, 2nd Edition, p.277[1]).
