Description

Chusquea culeou? 20081221 Parque Nacional Puyehue, Chile

There are quite a number of species in the genus. This... erm... "lovely" plant grows in profusion throughout humid parts of Chile. It will be very well-known to anyone foolish enough to try to go trekking off-trail. Oddly, it has a solid stem unlike most bamboos. And according to google, it is the most frost-tolerant of all South American bamboos. Isn't that edifying?
