Louisiana - New Orleans
Description
  • General notes: 1922 aerial photo over City Park, New Orleans. Delgado Museum (now New Orleans Museum of Art) just above and right of center. The McFadden Mansion is left of center; private mansion from before the expansion of the park and by mutual agreement allowed to remain under lease until the 1940s; later used as a school. Bayou St. John is near the top; note numerous boats, some are houseboats used as regular residences. The house boats would be prohibited in the 1930s (they did not have sewerage hook ups) and the WPA cleaned up the Bayou. At bottom right, across City Park Avenue from the park, is a section of a private amusement park, Stock's Scenic Park also known as Stock's Amusement Park, which lasted until 1931.
