English: Tens of thousands of young people went on strike and marched down the streets of San Francisco this Friday to demand action on climate change. We took videos and photos of young activists from Sunrise Movement Marin as they protested corporate greed and government inertia, stopping in front of Bank of America, Amazon, PG&E and ICE to express their outrage.
Here are a few video clips of their inspiring chants, which were led by protesters of all ages -- many of whom found their voices during this largest environmental march in history. Organizers estimate that about 4 million people joined this global strike worldwide (with up to 40,000 participants in San Francisco). It was a sight to behold, and I was struck by the energy and passion of this new generation of activists. They are forming a huge youth-led political movement that is already changing the world. This global strike gives me hope that we can solve the climate crisis by forcing people in power to stop destroying our environment, and inviting everyone else to do their part. These short clips are just a prelude to a larger video which my partner David Donnenfield will edit soon. Later today, I will publish my photos from the event, which turned out really well. Stay tuned, some of the scenes we captured are truly amazing.
