English: Comet Olbers on 24 June 2024, about a week before perihelion, through an 8 inch f/4 newtonian telescope, imaged with an Olympus E-PL5 camera. 48x20s light frames were stacked in DSS in comet mode and edited with SIRIL.
The ion tail can be seen extending for about half a degree up to its faintest point and a diffuse anti-tail is also visible, as Earth crossed the orbital plane of the comet on 17 June. |
