English: Original Title: C.S. privateer submarine PIONEER (1862)

Original Caption: On exhibit at the state home for Confederate soldiers, Bayou St. Johns, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1926. This port stern view shows her propeller shaft with propeller blades missing.

Notes: Misidentification of this early submarine as "the Pioneer" was formerly common. Shown on display at Camp Nicholls, New Orleans.
