Description
English: Rhombic pinwheel crystallization in the EN model. The movie shows OPMs (left) as well as their power spectrum (right). In the left panel, colors encode preferred orientation and brightness orientation selectivity. The simulation of the EN model was obtained by gradient descent dynamics with circular stimulus ensemble and fixed retinotopy. The simulation was started from the unselective fixed point z(x, t = 0) = 0 (parameters: r = 0.1, σ/Λ = 0.1 (η = 0.67)).
