Mackay Outer Harbour

August 26 has been fixed for the date of the opening of the Outer Harbour at Mackay. Supervising Engineer D. Fison made thorough inspections during the past two days, and unless there are unforeseen delays, the progress should be such that the Sydney Star, bearing the Premier (Mr. W. Forgan Smith) will be able to enter the harbour on the morning of that day.

It will be some months before the work is completed, but sugar boats will start loading at the pier after August 26. The city itself has no plans for celebrating the official opening, and there will be no pageantry. Speeches will be made on the Sydney Star.
