| Description |
English: North British Type 4 (later Class 41) "Warship" Class 2,000 hp A1A-A1A No.D601 "Ark Royal" in BR green livery with white stripe and small yellow warning panel and divided headcodes at Woodham's Scrapyard, Barry 10/68. The Class 41's were not at all what the WR wanted and was effectively hoisted on them by the BTC who favoured heavy designs at that time, although the WR later got their way with the lightweight Class 42 (and to some extent the Class 43) "Warships". The Class 41's were predictably not a success, rather typical of NBL's declining design capabilities and workmanship in the company's last years. Scanned photograph taken with a Kowa SET. |
