| Blazon | Deutsch: „In Gold (Gelb) auf grünem Boden stehend ein schwarz gekleideter Mönch, der in der Rechten einen auswärts gekehrten schwarzen Abtstab hält und von einem gesenkten roten Wellenbalken unterlegt ist.“
Das Wappen steht redend für den Ortsnamen Mönchröden und erinnert zugleich an das örtliche Benediktinerkloster. Der Wellenbalken symbolisiert die durch den Ort fließende Röden. Die Farben Schwarz und Gold erinnern an die frühere Zugehörigkeit zum Herzogtum Coburg. English: „Or, above a terrace in base vert, under the partition, a fess wavy gules, upon all a munk clothed sable, in his right a directed outwards crozier sable.“
The arms are granted on April 21, 1967. They show a munk as a canting symbol, as well as a symbol for the monastery of the Order of Saint Benedict in the village. The fess wavy stands for the Röden river. The colours are derived from the arms of the Duchy of Coburg. |
