Description

Modern Nomad Life, Dasht-e Lar, Lar Plain, Tehran Province, Iran

Some families with their sheep move for summer to tents in Dasht-e Lar which is a plain at the foot of Mount Damavand. Young people usually don't live there, but they come for the weekend to meet their family. The air is cooler than in cities, but the days are quite hot. I spent one night in a tent. I couldn't sleep, it was so cold. There are no tourists, it is a protected area. If you want to go there, you need Iranian friends. The road is narrow, but picturesque, and goes high in the mountains.
