Nederlands: Een film van PAUL HAJENIUS - De AKI, tevergeefs een tijdje gedwongen onder de naam kunstonderwijsinstelling ArtEZ Academie voor Art & Design Enschede te opereren, verhuist van de locatie op de UT naar Roombeek. In 1949 werd in de openluchtschool aan de Kottendijk gestart met het geven van kunstonderwijs. De villa aan de Hengelosestraat ook wel bekend als "het huis van Max van Gelder" moest eerst nog worden opgeknapt maar uiteindelijk op 9 februari 1950 werd de opleiding voor KUNST en INDUSTRIE door minister Rutten geopend. In1964 werd er een geheel nieuw gebouw betrokken aan de Roessinghsbleekweg (architect Nicolai ). Op de Borneostraat bevond zich vanaf 1985 in de voormalige HBS een dependance met vanaf 1992 een stuk nieuwbouw. Sinds 1998 werd alles ondergebracht op de campusvan de UT. Vanaf 2013 is ArtEZ Academie voor Art & Design dus te vinden aan het einde van de Cultuurmijl, in een oude fabriek van de firma Roozendaal voormalig Tetem 2. Het ontwerp voor de herbestemming komt van architectenburo Marx& Steketee. In oktober 2012 vond er voor omwonenden een burendag plaats. |
