Nederlands: De Dam in 1604 tijdens de laatste Leprozenommegang op KoppertjesmaandagDit schilderij legde in 1633 de oude traditie van de Leprozenoptocht vast, die in 1604 was verboden. Koppertjesmaandag was een feestdag in Amsterdam. De naam van deze dag heeft te maken met het oude woord ‘copperen’, dat smullen betekent. Op deze dag mochten de leprozen de stad in om geld op te halen. Adriaan van Nieuland voltooide in 1633 de opdracht van de regenten van het Leprozenhuis om de vroegere Leprozenommegang op doek vast te leggen. De leprozen, sommigen lopend, anderen meegevoerd op door paarden getrokken sleden, zijn herkenbaar aan de klepper in hun hand. Daarmee waarschuwden zij omstaanders uit te buurt te blijven. Rechts op de voorgrond gaan stadsomroepers rond om een loterij ten bate van het Dolhuis aan te kondigen.
