Description Johan Herman Hallincq, telg uit een invloedrijk en behoorlijk kapitaalkrachtig regentengeslacht en later burgemeester, deed er tien jaar over om zoveel grond en huizen aan te kopen dat hij ruimte had om deze patriciërswoning te laten bouwen. Hij moest er wel zijn familiehuis de Groene Weyde voor af laten breken. In 1742 kon hij met de bouw beginnen. Drie jaar later was het pand klaar. Aan het huis is duidelijk de overgang te zien van Lodewijk-XIV naar Lodewijk-XV stijl.
