Nederlands: De bouw van de Oosterdokssluis, gezien uit het noordenOp 11 juni 1830 werd met de aanleg van de schutwerken voor de Oosterdokssluis begonnen. Kroonprins Frederik legde de eerste steen. Links op het schilderij is ’s Lands Magazijn (nu: Scheepvaartmuseum) te zien. Het Marine Dok maakte sinds de opening van het Oosterdok op 5 mei 1832 deel uit van het nieuwe havenbekken. De Oosterdokssluis bestond uit twee parallelle schutsluizen. Die bleken te smal. Tot twee keer toe werd de grootste sluis verbreed. In 1908 tenslotte werden de sluisdeuren verwijderd.
