Description

New Orleans: Street view, Decatur Street, French Quarter, June 1936. FACADES ON DECATUR STREET Nos. 1107-33 Marked 'A' on Plot Plan - Ursuline's Row Houses, 1107-1133 Decatur Street (Commercial Buildings), New Orleans

Notes: Row of commercial / residential buildings constructed on land on what had been the Decatur Street side of the Ursuline Convent grounds.
A group of men are seen gathered on the sidewalk by a sign for "Rudy's Beer Parlor". The partially obscured side of the sign advertises "Wirthbru Beer", a brand made by the Standard Brewing Company Inc of New Orleans (in business 1933-1947 at 525 S. Johnson Street).
Signs further back include "S ---Anasa Produce", "Richard's Shoe Store", "Mama's Place", "Jos. Guastella - 4X Beer", and a sign for "Regal Beer". Across the street at front right is a sign for "Postal Telegraph - Commercial Cables".
