Notes | A copy after Giulio Romano's painting acquired in 1662 by Louis XIV from the banker Everhard Jabach's collection and now in the Louvre, Paris (1420). The initials "D.M." have been plausibly interpreted as standing for 'Diana Mantuana', i.e. Diana Scultori (sometimes incorrectly known as Diana Ghisi), much of whose engraved work is after Giulio. No print corresponding with 1862.1011.198 is known, however. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
