Description
Deutsch: Burg Schnellenberg im Sauerland bei Regenwetter – Die Burg wurde um 1200 erbaut, zu der Zeit, als dem Ort Attendorn durch die Verleihung des Soester Rechts die Stadtrechte zugesprochen wurden. Der Bau der Burg und die Erwerbung der Waldenburg dienten der Sicherung der Interessen Kur-Kölns und dem Schutz der Heidenstraße, einer fast 500 Km langen Heer- und Handelsstraße, die von Leipzig über Kassel nach Köln führte. 1594 erwarb die Burg der Droste Caspar von Fürstenberg. Dessen Familie hatte dort bis ins 19. Jahrhundert ihren Wohnsitz. Danach verfiel die Burg langsam, bis 1928 der Pächter Bilsing die Anlage übernahm und ein Hotel und ein Restaurant errichtete. Die Familie Freiherr von Fürstenberg-Herdringen ist bis heute Besitzer der Burg Schnellenberg.
