La Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri nobile fiorentino ridotta a miglior lezione dagli Accademici della Crusca

Firenze, Domenico Manzani, 1595

Primo esempio dell’altra storica attività secolare dell’Accademia: la preparazione di testi filologicamente attendibili, proprio per servire al Vocabolario.

Fin da subito gli Accademici si imbattono nel testo di Dante: non contenti delle versioni circolanti, si mettono al lavoro e, avendo come testo di riferimento l’edizione curata dal Bembo del 1502, confrontano un centinaio di codici (sembra che il solo Bastiano de Rossi ne studiasse una trentina). Nell’introduzione scritta da Bastiano de Rossi si accenna ai lavori per il vocabolario già in corso (uscirà poi nel 1612) Non c’è commento ma solo il testo.

In fondo al volume c’è un esempio di “contaminatio”: un gatto (simbolo del tipografo Manzani) che aziona il frullone (simbolo dell’Accademia), a significare che solo con il lavoro editoriale si hanno risultati del lavoro di scelta e spoglio della lingua…
