Description
This is a photograph of an architectural monument.
It is on the list of cultural monuments of Bünde.
Deutsch: Tafel am Eingang zum Doberg bei Bünde, Kreis Herford, Nordrhein-Westfalen. Inschrift:

DER DOBERG 105 m. ÜNN.
 Aus Sand u. Mergel als Ablagerung einer Urnordsee in der Oligozän-Epoche der Tertiärzeit ca. 30. [Mio.] Jahre vor der Gegenwart.
 Einziger Ort in Nordeuropa, wo gesamtes Oligozän erhalten ist. Seit 1924 zahlreiche wissenschaftliche Arbeiten, Ziel internationaler
 Tagungen, Sammlungen Kreisheimatmuseum Bünde, in Bonn, Frankfurt, Berlin und anderen namhaften Städten-
Reiche Meerwelt, ehemals über 500 Arten. Von besonderer Bedeutung sind Funde von Wirbeltieren (Zahnwal, Seekuh) und vielen
 Fossilien, die im Kreisheimatmuseum Bünde ausgestellt sind. Durch fortgesetzten Mergelabbau, Müllablagerung und mutwilliger
Verschüttung (??unleserlich??) drohte der hohe Wert des Dobergs verloren zu gehen. Es wurde erkannt, daß dieser Ort, Schutz und Pflege bedurfte.

Der SPD-Ortsverein Bünde-Südlengern rief 1974 die „Aktion Schöner Doberg“ ins Leben. Sie wurde von der Bevölkerung, Geschäftswelt
und der Stadt Bünde unterstützt.
Helft mit, dieses Naturdenkmal sehenswürdig zu erhalten!
