Deutsch: Dornier Do 17 Z-2/Z-3, Kennzeichen 5K + AL, 3./KG 3 "Blitz" (3. Staffel des Kampfgeschwaders 3 "Blitz") in Zellhausen (10,4 Km N-W-W Aschaffenburg), April-Juni 1940. Rechts im Hintergrund eine weitere Do 17 Z sowie eine Junkers Ju 52 mit umlaufend gelb markierten Motorhauben. Vom 18.05. bis zum 21.06.1940 waren in Zellhausen auch Heinkel He 111 der II. Gruppe des Kampfgeschwaders 53 stationiert. Von hier wurden Kampfeinsätze während des Frankreichfeldzuges über Belgien u. Frankreich geflogen. Die I. Gruppe des KG 3 (mit den Staffeln 1 bis 3) war am 1. März 1940 in Burg bei Magdeburg eingerichtet worden. Aus Elbing und Heiligenbeil in Ostpreussen kommend waren Stab und III. Gruppe des KG 3 von Okt. 1939 bis Juni 1940 in Würzburg (Galgenberg) stationiert, bei gleichzeitiger Unterbringung der II. Gruppe/KG 3 auf dem Flugplatz Schweinfurt, Siehe auch "Kampfgeschwader 3" (priv. Internetseite) und Fliegerhorst Heiligenbeil.
English: Dornier Do 17 Z-2/Z-3, 5K + AL, 3./KG 3 "Blitz" (3rd Squadron of 3rd Bomber Wing "Blitz"/"Lightning") in Zellhausen (10,4 Km N-W-W Aschaffenburg), April-June 1940. On the right in the background another Do 17 Z and a Junkers Ju 52 with engine cowls marked in yellow all round. From 18 May to 21 June 1940, Heinkel He 111s of the II Group of Kampfgeschwader 53 were also stationed in Zellhausen. Combat missions were flown from here during the French campaign over Belgium and France. The I Group of KG 3 (with squadrons 1 to 3) was established in Burg near Magdeburg on 1 March 1940. Coming from Elbing and Heiligenbeil in East Prussia, the staff and III Group of KG 3 were stationed in Würzburg (Galgenberg) from Oct. 1939 to June 1940, while the II Group/KG 3 was accommodated at Schweinfurt airfield at the same time. The mountain ranges of the nearby Hahnenkamm (Vorspessart) can be recognised dimly on the horizon to the east. |
