English: 20 June 2018. For several years this paved strip of land has been used by a few people as a litter/rubbish tray. Sometimes street drinkers sit on the coping stone of the low wall and leave their empty cans as well.
The land is owned by British Telecom (BT) and they clear it from time to time. They own the adjoining Phone Exchange building on the other side of the high brick wall. To be fair, some time ago they offered to erect a fence round the paved strip. But this was blocked for some obscure reason by Haringey Council. Dumping on 20 June 2018 was the worst I've seen here for some years. I took four photos in preparation for an email to British Telecom. But it wasn't necessary. BT were already on the case; and cleared it on 22 June. The BT Facilities Services manager told elected ward councillors that as well as the obvious rubbish and litter (plus a pile of discarded bedding) the freezer was full of rotten fish. They have now erected a fence around not just this strip of land but their entire site. |
