| Description |
Deutsch: Erbaut wurde die katholische Barockkirche unter dem Kurfürsten Friedrich August II durch den Baumeister Geatano Chiaveri zwischen 1739 und 1755.
Am 29.06.1751 wurde sie durch den apostolischen Nuntius Polens, Erzbischof Albert von Archinto der heiligsten Dreifaltigkeit - Sanctissimae Trinitatis - geweiht. Während Bombenangriffen zwischen den 13 und 15 Februar 1945 wurde die Kirche schwer beschädigt und erst im Jahre 1965 wieder hergestellt. Die Kirche ist etwa 92 m lang, 54 m breit und der Turm hat eine Höhe von 86 m. Sie ist mit Residenzschloss Dresden verbunden und liegt am Elbufer. Seit 1980 ist sie Kathedrale Sanctissimae Trinitatis des Bistums Dresden-Meißen. |
