Description
Deutsch: Das „Durlacher Tor“ aus westsüdwestlicher Blickrichtung. Die Bernharduskirche ist gut zu erkennen. Rechts daneben im Hintergrund am Gottesauer Platz ist die Lutherkirche sichtbar.

Links neben der Bernharduskirche verläuft die Ludwig-Wilhelm-Straße. Bei dem links davon erkennbaren Gebäude handelt es sich um die Heinrich-Meidinger-Schule. Im Bildvordergrund sind die vorhandenen Straßenbahnstrecken sichtbar, die nach links zum Hauptfriedhof führten, schräg rechts nach oben nach Durlach, rechts in die Kapellenstraße und nach unten in die Karlsruher Innenstadt. Zusätzlich sind auch die Schienen der ehemaligen Lokalbahn sichtbar, die sich mit ihrer kleineren Spurweite deutlich von den Straßenbahngleisen abheben und im Bild von links nach rechts in die Kapellenstraße verlaufen. Die rechts befindliche Bebauung, die sich zur Kapellenstraße hin öffnet, wurde um 1957 abgerissen[1], um den Platzbedarf des Straßenverkehrs auf dem Platz zu stillen.
