Español: Iglesia de Ntra. Sra. de la Asunción en Ambite (Madrid)
Construida a principios del siglo XVI Edificada sobre restos de otros templos anteriores que bien podrían tener su origen en el s. VI es un edificio de mampostería de piedra de estilo matizadamente barroco. Coronando su torre está el gallo al que los agricultores hicieran famoso al citarlo en sus prédicas de agua “así llueva hasta que cubra el gallo de Ambite” En su interior se han encontrado restos de personas y utensilios desde el s. XII hasta 1.834 año en el que la epidemia de cólera acabó con la costumbre de los enterramientos en las iglesias y su entorno, conservándose junto al presbiterio el único resto arqueológico con el que en la actualidad cuenta la iglesia. |
