English: Ellen Abel-Musgrave (center, 1908–1988) was born in Clifton near Bristol in England. She served as a gymnastics teacher after she completed her training at Dora Menzler school in Leipzig and Wustrow in 1929. In 1929/30 she was part of the staff of progressive Schule am Meer (= School by the Sea) on the East-Frisian island Juist in Prussia. The school's headmaster was Martin Luserke (1880–1968). Ellen Abel-Musgrave was the older sister of internationally renowned economist Richard Abel Musgrave (1910–2007) and the daughter of writer and translator Curt Abel-Musgrave (1860–1938). On the right: Maria Becker (* 28 January, 1920 in Berlin, Prussia, German Reich; † 5 September, 2012 in Uster, Canton Zürich, Switzerland), daughter of the German actor Theodor Becker (* 18 February, 1880 in Mannheim; † 26 June, 1952 in Coppenbrügge) and his second wife, the Austrian actress Maria Fein (born on 7 April, 1892 in Vienna; deceased on 15 September, 1965 in Zürich, Switzerland). The girl on the left hasn't been identified, yet. All three are sitting on the beach of the North Sea in the north of the boarding-school's compound.
