Description

Opened in 1888 as the "Empress Hotel" purchased by the US based Edison Hotel chain in 1947 and continued to operate under the name "Edison Hotel" until 1979 even though the "Edison Hotel Chain" relinquished ownership in the 1960s

The building was converted to offices and retail space in 1979

The north wall collapsed in April 2010 and the building sat empty until it was destroyed by arson in January 2011.
