DescriptionEnnis Friary Choir North Wall Tombs 2015 09 03.jpg |
Ennis Friary, County Clare, Ireland
English: Tombs at the north wall of the choir. The left tomb with Tuscanic columns is that of Henry Banks who died in 1728 which was erected in 1773. The tomb was originally located at the modern east window in the tower before it was moved to the choir. See Journal of the Association for the Preservation of the Memorials of the Dead in Ireland, Volume III, part I, p. 39. The right tomb carries the coat of arms of the McNamara family which is “divided per pale with two arrowheads and a crescent in chief above a lion rampant dexter impaling three boars heads between chevron”.
