A questionEdit

Hi, I have a question: can I upload to Commons a screen shot of an Italian singer during a 1977 Rai TV show? Thank you. --CoolJazz5 (talk) 19:24, 21 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi CoolJazz5, most works created in Italy are copyrighted until 70 years have passed since the death of the author. While the copyright of “simple photographs” may expire after 20 years, it is hard to be sure about that. I am not familiar with Italian case law in this regard but film stills can still be considered as works of art. See Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Italy for more infos. BTW, File:Franco Cerri quintet 1973.jpg is unlikely to be your own work as claimed – please fix this. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 20:58, 21 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi AFBorchert, thanks for the answer. As soon as I find the higher resolution version, the load will replace the current one. Regards, --CoolJazz5 (talk) 23:49, 21 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi CoolJazz5, this still does not make it your own work. Or do you claim to have taken this photo yourself in 1973? From where did you get this photo? Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 05:47, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi AFBorchert, the photo was taken by me in Codroipo (Udine) during a concert of the Franco Cerri quintet in October 1973. The file was then digitized with a digital camera and slightly modified. Age allowed me to be there. Regards, --CoolJazz5 (talk) 12:41, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
P.S: The file I asked you about for a possible upload to Commons, was accepted in the WP-it and placed in the category: Screenshot copyrighted television. --CoolJazz5 (talk) 13:27, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi CoolJazz5, thank you for clarifying this. Regarding the other upload: Please consider that WMF projects other than Wikimedia Commons are in some cases allowed to upload non-free media per the exemption doctrine policy (EDP). The policy for it.wikipedia.org is summarized at WP:EDP. Such files must not be transfered to Wikimedia Commons. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 10:56, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi AFBorchert, many thanks for the explanations. Regards, --CoolJazz5 (talk) 00:08, 25 April 2019 (UTC)

Etienne ThevenotEdit

Cordialement. Finoskov (talk) 18:39, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi Finoskov, please allow me to respond in English. Please understand that I follow general policies like Wikipédia:Travaux inédits. Hence, I follow the relevant scholarly literature. In this case, I find that accent in following works:
I've found his name without accent in just one work:
Contemporary sources vary as well. His work Essai historique sur le vitrail, ou observations historiques sur verre was published with “E. H. Thevenot” as author. In a review of this work, he is named Thévenot.
I do not know which of these variants is ultimately correct. This can be a challenging question. My approach is to use the name as written in the most relevant scholarly work and this is in regard to this window the book by Martine Callias Bey and Véronique David. I've uploaded this photo and I have written the description to the best of my knowledge following the literature and I would like to keep it that way. Thanks for your understanding and kind regards, AFBorchert (talk) 22:57, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
And please see also the corresponding entry at Base Mémoire. --AFBorchert (talk) 06:35, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
