"Poste Restante" by Erik Pevernagie, oil on canvas, 100 x 80 cm x

Let us soar on the wings of liberty and trace the perfect angle to tackle the vagaries of life. What can happiness be other than covering freedom, creating harmony, and finding peace with oneself?

Finding the happy medium between what our brain tells us, what our mind inspires us, and what our heart instills is a significant challenge in life.

Along the way, in their attempt to make their dream come true, many ultimately prefer to stay on the sideline. In the meantime, their packages of good intentions start leaking, or their letters of hope remain silenced by unawareness.

‘Poste restante’ may result from neglect or indifference after love or hate has done its work. It is anyhow the unfortunate accumulation of leftovers.

Love may be an inexhaustible well of inspiration for writing loads of letters. The wind of unresponsiveness may, however, blow frostiness into the fold of expectations.

When chilliness turns into unconcern or grows into hatred, letters fade away in a grey zone of discomfort and disappear in the dungeons of forgetfulness or the margin of disinterest.

Many letters left at the “Post office General Delivery” can be practical examples of a breach of communication or trust since each letter embodies the expectation or hope of individuals looking forward to responses and solutions.

Be it as it may. Let us take care of ourselves instead of burning out in the long run. The path of our inner world is not an irreversible freeway to immutable integrity. Let us thus leave room for some probing during the fast and furious assault of the wishful targets throughout our lives. We need not feel demeaned either when we waver in facing the hassling crossroads coming up or must admit needing incidental backing or feel compelled to accept to question ourselves to the bottom.

Phenomenon: Breach in communication

Factual starting point: Letters left over
