© Catedraleseiglesias.com Álbum 2569 Arquidiócesis de Yucatán www.catedraleseiglesias.com/ La Pinacoteca del Estado Juan Gamboa Guzmán fue inagurada en julio de 1981, en un monumento histórico del siglo XVII que perteneció a los jesuitas durante el virreinato (1618-1767): el colegio de San Francisco Javier, más tarde convertido en universidad y después en la iglesia de El Jesús. La sala principal del museo fue la sacristía del templo de El Jesús, que entre 1864 y 1979 funcionó como la biblioteca pública Manuel Cepeda Peraza. La sala de exposiciones temporales, techada con una bóveda vaída, fue el confesionario rojo, donde los jesuitas se confesaban. Tanto la sala con obras de Gamboa Guzmán, donde hay una escalera barroca, como la planta alta, donde se encuentran las salas Los mayas de bronce y la Histórica de gobernantes, formaron parte de la antigua universidad jesuita. |
