Built to two storey tennement building in 1914. Ordered by ~hotelier József Bogenreider (1847-1922). Building constructor architect Andor Merbl from Timisoara. Planned probably by chief architect László Székely (1877, Vienna-1934). This art nouveau two storey building because stucco and sculpture decorated and its size nicknamed as Bogenrieder Palace. The new building built on the place of Rózsa (Rose) Hotel. The Rózsa Hotel, first groundfloor building built on the north end (Kölcsey Street) of this plot, the south (Fő Road side) building built to Károly Knotzer in 1875. In the south building rented to a 'Casino' cultural venue,-by Industry- Worker- Association for Patients and Self-Education,-where young people could meet and learn to dance. The property was bought in 1896 by restaurateur and hotelier József Bogenrieder. The hotel operated here until 1913, when its tenant moved the institution to 21 Main Road. On the site of the demolished house, in 1914 Bogenrieder built his Art Nouveau-style, cottage-like building, which was executed by Timisoara architect Arnold Merbl. • József Bogenrieder was a picolo (waiter) in Vienna. From 1872 he was a restaurateur at the Barcs railway station, from 1881 (until 1918) he rented the restaurant of Kanizsa station, and between 1890 and 1911 he also rented Hotel Korona. One of his six children, Frigyes Bogenrieder (1885-1931), was the owner of Saviour Pharmacy, a famous wrestler, sports organizer and patron. - 13 Fő Road, Nagykanizsa, Zala County, Hungary.

Bogenrieder-palota. NEM! palota csak a gazdag stukkó, szobor díszitése és két emletes mérete,-felépülése idején a város legnagyobb bérháza volt,- miatt kapta a palota becenevet! A szecessziós bérházat Bogenrieder József (1847, Bécs-1922) vasúti vendéglős építtette 1914-ben. Merbl Andor temesvári műépítész/építési vállalkozó kivitelezésében készült. Tervező: Székely László főépítész (Nagyszalonta, 1877-1934) - munkás szobor az épület kisebbik tetőíve alatt egy félmeztelen gyári munkás alakja bújik meg, kalapáccsal, illetve egy fogaskerékkel a kezében. 'Szépség és Hiúság' szobor. A két második emeleti erkély jobb és bal szélén elhelyezett kettő-kettő dombormű, balra a „Szépség”, jobbra a „Hiúság”, megszólalásig hasonlatosak a Berlinben, a hajdani Rajna Aranya Borház (Weinhaus Rheingold) homlokzatát díszítő reliefekre, melyeket Franz Metzner készített. A felső manzárd-szint alatt Atlasz-figurák is láthatók, amik szintén Metzner nyomán készülhettek. Knortzer Károly tulajdonában volt, aki a telek északi végén (Kölcsey utca 12.) 1875-re építtette fel a hét szobával, ebédlővel, mészárszékkel rendelkező szálló újabb épületét ahol működtette „Casinóját” az ugyancsak 1875-ben alakult Ipar-, Munkás-, Beteg- és Önképző Egyesület, ahol a fiatalság – tánciskolai jelleggel – találkozhatott és táncolni tanulhatott. Az ingatlant 1896-ban Bogenrieder József vendéglős és szállodás vásárolta meg. A szálló 1913-ig működött itt, majd akkori bérlője az intézményt a Fő út 21. szám alá költöztette. A lebontott ház helyén 1914-ben Bogenrieder felépíttette szecessziós stílusú, nyaralószerű épületét. - Merbl Arnold temesvári műépítész kivitelezte. • Bogenrieder József Bécsben pikoló (pincérinas) volt. 1872-tól a barcsi vasútállomás vendéglőse, 1881-től (1918-ig) már a kanizsai állomás éttermét bérelte, 1890 és 1911 között a Korona szállót is bérelte.
