FRCs Bernard C. Webber and Richard Etheridge mooring in Miami.

  • Original caption: "
The Coast Guard fast response cutters (FRCs) Bernard C. Webber (background) and Richard Etheridge in Key West, Fla., June 14, 2012. This was the first time the two Sentinel-class cutters had been together since they were under construction at Bollinger Shipyards. Both cutters are homeported in Miami, Fla. FRCs include features that their predecessors, the Island-class patrol boats, do not: better seakeeping ability, a bridge-operated gyro-stabilized 25 mm deck gun, greater crew comforts, a stern launched over-the-horizon cutterboat, a robust command and control system, and better maneuverability at slow speeds.
