Nederlands: Veel van de verkochte bloemen in Nederland komen uit landen buiten Europa. Van alle rozen die verkrijgbaar zijn in Nederland is een groot deel afkomstig uit Afrika of Zuid-Amerika. Voor de kleine boeren of arbeiders in deze landen ontbreekt meestal een sociaal of economisch vangnet. Doordat deze groepen de zwakste schakel in de handelsketen vormen, leven zij vaak in armoede, hebben zij nauwelijks rechten of moeten zij roofbouw plegen op hun omgeving. Het Fairtrade systeem doet daar wat aan.
De Fairtrade rozen van PLUS komen van bloemenkwekerijen in Kenia, Tanzania en Zimbabwe. Op deze kwekerijen krijgen de arbeiders eerlijk betaald waardoor ze kunnen werken aan een menswaardig bestaan. Bovendien is er aandacht voor goede arbeidsomstandigheden en het milieu. Dat maakt een boeket Fairtrade rozen tot een duurzaam product.
