DescriptionFender Rhodes Piano Bass (1965), Ecco Fonic tape echo, Museum of Making Music.jpg |
The Rhodes Piano Bass was the first in a series of electromechanical instruments created for consumers. The piano had 32 keys and has the same range as an electric bass guitar, the bottom note being a low E. It can be mounted on a stand on placed on top of a piano or organ. Although the Piano Bass is most gamous for its use by the Doors keyboardist, Ray Manzareke. It also enjoyed a widespread use in popular music during the sixties and seventies. Gift of Joe and Helen Partise
