Porträt Ferdinand Ulrich von Fircks (1771-1848), kurländischer Adelsmarschall und Freund der Herzogin von Kurland. Fircks ist als Feueresse/Kamin mit Porträtkopf dargestellt. Neben dem Titel "H. v. Fircks" und einem Vers unter dem Bild, ist der linke Rand der Zeichnung mit einem großen und einem kleinen "F" versehen. - nachträglich mit einem Kreuz hinter Titel/Namen versehen [Bildunterschrift] Die Feueresse rauchet sehr/ Doch Tobackspfeiffen noch vielmehr.Biografisches Ferdinand Ulrich von Fircks (1771–1848) war ein enger Freund der Herzogin von Kurland. In der gemeinsamen Heimat Kurland bekleidete er den Rang eines Adelsmarschalls. Der Enkel des kursächsischen Oberstleutnants Ferdinand von Fircks war vierter Majoratsherr auf Lesten in Kurland. (1) Seine Frau Charlotte Louise Benigna von Korff (1779–1843) stammte aus dem Hause Kreutzburg. Er ließ in den 1820er Jahren das neue, jetzt noch stehende Herrenhaus in Lesten bauen. (2) Die Familie von Fircks selbst zählt zu den uradligen baltischen Geschlechtern und war erst in Estland, später in Kurland ansässig. Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts erhielten sie den Titel russischer Barone.
