English: Photograph of historical marker at Main and Lewis Streets, Ferndale, California which reads "The Shaw House - Pioneer Seth Louis Shaw began construction of his home, Fern Dale in 1854. The town was named after his first permanent home. The home, in its original condition is a fine example of gothic architecture. The house is a landmark and a source of pride to the community. Dedicated by the Native Sons of the Golden West. February 13, 1982. Larry E. Mowinckel, Grand President. In memory of James D. Phelan, U.S. Senator."
