editF. E. Farnsworth Ex-Kleagle, Dies. Genius of Order in Maine Succumbs in This City. Rose to Leadership From Start as Barber In New Brunswick. Colorful Career Closed With Split in Ranks. F. Eugene Farnsworth, formerly King Kleagle of the Ku Klux Klan in Maine and president of the Loyal Coalition, died early yesterday morning in Phillips House, Massachusetts General Hospital. Farnsworths life was a colorful one. Born in Eastern Maine, he moved as boy to St. Stephen, N.B., where he became a barber. Hearing the call of the Salvation Army, he forsook his trade and for years was a zealous worker for the Army, especially at street corner meetings. He then studied hypnotism and for a time traveled through New England giving exhibitions in the leading cities. Next the work of a photographer attracted him and he obtained a place on a Boston newspaper where he worked for eight years.
