English: Frankfurt am Main, Stiftstraße 8-10. Cultural monument of the city.
Deutsch: Frankfurt am Main, Stiftstraße 8-10. Denkmalgeschütztes Geschäftshaus des Jugendstils. 1903 gliedert der Architekt Wilhelm Plate die Natursteinfassade des Gebäudes mit drei mehrgeschossigen Erkern und stattet es mit großen Ladenarkaden aus. Besonderes Merkmal sind die für den Jugendstil typischen floralen Ornamente unterhalb der geschweiften Dachkante sowie den Erkern. Einen witzigen Einfall bilden die Torsi von vier Bären, deren Tatzen jeweils auf den ineinander verschlungenen Anfangsbuchstaben MB ruhen und die auf die Fußgänger herabschauen. Bauherr war die 1897 gegründete Firma „Porzellan Bär“. Moses gen. Moritz Bär, aus einer Essener Familie Bär, verkaufte hier zusammen mit seinem Schwager Otto Bonwit neben Küchengeräten Glas- und Porzellanwaren. Otto Bonwitt war seit 1909 vermählt mit der in Siegburg geborenen Irma Bär. Nach dem Tod von Moritz Bär 1925, führte Otto Bonwit führte die Geschäfte weiter. Er starb im Juli 1933. Das jüdische Unternehmen kann noch bis 1936 von Leopold Bär geleitet werden. Die sogenannte Arisierung beraubte der Familie ihr Eigentum. Deren Besitz geht auf die Firma Johann Handel über. Irma Bonwit, geb. Bär gelang mit den vier Kindern noch die rechtzeitige Emigration. Im Parterre befand sich bis 2021 das Ladengeschäft einer Supermarktkette. Das Gebäude steht (2022) leer und soll zu einem Bürohaus umgebaut werden
