Deutsch: Fritz Könekamp (* 15. Februar 1897 in Offenburg, Baden; † 1977), nach Emigration: Frederick Edward Konekamp, Lehrer für Mathematik, Physik und Volkswirtschaft, besuchte Oberrealschulen in Straßburg und Colmar, legte seine Reifeprüfung jedoch am Fridericianum in Davos ab. Nach Kriegsteilnahme und zweijähriger Kriegsgefangenschaft studierte er in Basel, Fribourg und an der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin, wo er promovierte. 1925/26 unterrichtete er im Landschulheim am Solling, 1926 bis 1928 war er Leiter der Deutschen Schule (Colegio Alemán) in Sevilla, bevor er vom 1. August 1928 bis zum 1. März 1932 in der Schule am Meer auf Juist tätig war. Als engagierter Sozialist und Mitglied des von Paul Oestreich 1919 gegründeten Bundes entschiedener Schulreformer wurde er nach dem 30. Januar 1933 von den Nationalsozialisten gesucht und wich in die Schweiz aus. Über Frankreich, Spanien, Portugal und Marokko emigrierte er nach England, wo er nach der Kriegserklärung 1939 als feindlicher Ausländer (Enemy Alien) behandelt und über den Nordatlantik nach Kanada in ein dortiges Internierungslager verschifft wurde. Nach seiner Freilassung siedelte er sich im englischen Wales an und wurde dort Kunstmaler. 1967 erhielt er das Verdienstkreuz 1. Klasse des Verdienstordens der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. |
