Deutsch: Das Museumsschildchen informiert (Stand: 2012):
Der Städtezerstörer
Ernst blickt der jugendliche Kriegsgott Ares. Sein Helm vom attischen Typ ist reich verziert: Hunde und geflügelte Greifen verweisen auf den Tod auf dem Schlachtfeld. Der einstmals wallende Hembusch ist verloren. Von weiteren, vollständiger erhaltenen Kopien desselben Typus wissen wir, dass dieser Kopf zu einer Figur in ruhigem Standmotiv gehörte; der rechte Arm hing untätig herab, während der Mann mit der Linken Lanze und Rundschild hielt. Dieser jugendliche Krieger ist der finstere Kriegsgott Ares in einer Fassung, die wohl auf ein Original des athenischen Bildhauers Alkamenes zurückgeht.
