Summary edit

Description
English: Gold and silver plate of the Sassanian era. (Museum Iran Bastan in Tehran, Iran) April 2008. The multiple figures decorating the plate are typical of the late sasanian art. Greco-roman influence can be seen through the winged figures testifying of the artistic exchanges with Roma then later, with Byzantium. The chimeric animals testify of a continuity with the art of the ancient Achaemenian Persian empire, and with the older mesopotamian art. The scene represents a fishing party wich shares great similarities with the one carved on Khosrow II's rock reliefs at Taq-e Bostan.
