DescriptionGotha Tram Drivers in Gotha, DDR. August 1989.jpg |
English: Owing to track repairs at the junction of route 2 with routes 1 and 4, this section of line to the Ostbahnhof was opearting as a shuttle service using two double ended Gotha motor cars, nos 47 and 46. The left hand driver, finding that I was interested in photographing trams, stopped his vehicle at the half way crossing loop and got his fellow driver of the other pendulum tram to pose for a photograph. He also advised me to go the the depot where they would gladly show me the preserved 1929 motor car and trailer of the Waldbahn. On reaching the depot, I duly found „Blakie“ who disappeared to investigate my odd request. After a long wait, he returned with a blank face and the short expression „Nicht möglich“. Well, that was that, so I took a ride on the said Waldbahn to Tabarz not having seen the old timers.
No 46 from 1959 went to Erfurt in 1993, and was finally scrapped in 1999 after use at the Transport and Technology museum at Prora on Ruegen. T57 No 47 is preserved as a depot shunter. |
