| Description |
English: Restoration of two Hull & Barnsley Railway teak-bodied coaches is being undertaken in conjunction with Hull College at several sites across the City. We got an exclusive tour of the progress so far from the project manager who is collaborating with my Son at the Hull Maritime project. Students are learning traditional woodworking and joinery skills whilst helping to restore these historically important vehicles.
Coach No. 58 was built by Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Co Ltd (BRCW) and is a 56ft bogie vehicle for express traffic whilst Coach No.1 of 1868 is a four-wheel brake third and the earliest H&BR coach to survive. It was sold to the Taff Vale railway, absorbed by the GWR and formed part of a house in Wales until rescued in the 1990s. |
