Description : York boats could be operated either by oar or sail and often had a crew of six to eight oarsmen. One York boat could carry three tons of goods, or three times the capacity of a canoe, making them extremely cost-effective. /

Les barges d’York comptaient sur des équipages de six à huit rameurs ou sur des voiles pour avancer. Une seule barge pouvait transporter trois tonnes de marchandises (trois fois plus qu’un canot), ce qui rendait ce type d’embarcation très rentable.
