Description

New Orleans, 1938. "The hardsurfacing of Hayne Boulevard (Littlewoods Road) by WPA workers provides easy access to the lakefront for campers. Exterior." During WPA paving project.

Shows Hayne Boulevard in Eastern New Orleans; to right some of the "camps" (buildings on stilts in the shallows of Lake Pontchartrain) which formerly lined the Lakefront can be seen. At left is a sign reading "The Rubie Now Open / JAX Bottle Beer".
