Description
English: An equestrian portrait of Henri François de Foix de Candalle (1640-1714), in an extensive landscape, before a fortified castle, possibly Chateau de Vincennes.
  • "This painting possibly belongs with a series in Skokloster Castle, Sweden, depicting French noblemen on horseback. It was previously owned by Quintin Craufurd - a respected British author living in Paris, who was instrumental in Marie Antoinette's escape to Varennes. He amassed an impressive library and collection of paintings, coins and other objects of antiquarian interest." [1]
