editTrolley Car Crashes into Maine Stage. Wagon Is Wrecked and One Horse Fatally Injured, but Driver Curlhair Miraculously Escapes. Lestershire, New York; June 11, 1904. The stage and express owned and driven Henry Curlhair of Maine, while on its way to Binghamton yesterday was struck by the 10 o'clock electric car coming from Union. The accident happened near the Erie Prospect House, and was caused by Mr. Curlhair crossing the tracks in front of the car, which he did not hear approaching. Mr. Curlhair escaped injury, but one of the horses was so badly cut up that he will have to be killed. The wagon was somewhat broken up. Mr. Curlhair's escape from injury was almost almost a miracle, as the car was going at a high rate of speed at the time of the accident.
