Stoet toekomstige KNIL-soldaten (Koninklijk Nederlandsch-Indisch Leger), afkomstig uit de kazerne (koloniaal Depot) te Harderwijk, bevindt zich, begeleid door mariniers, in de omgeving van de Koningsbrug, op weg voor inscheping aan de Boompjes. Centraal: oude vrouw met klein kind aan de hand neemt afscheid van haar zoon. Masten en zeilen van schepen in de Oude Haven; huizen aan de Spaansekade op de achtergrond.
