A veces el nombre “Heterocera” es utilizado para las polillas, mientras que el término “Rhopalocera” es utilizado para las mariposas con bonitos colores Sin embargo polilla no tiene validez taxonómica. Ha habido muchos intentos para subdividir los Lepidópteros en grupos como los Microlepidópteros y los Macrolepidópteros, Frenatae y Jugatae, o Monotrysia y Ditrysia, sin llegar a ningun acuerdo. Muchas polillas sus orugas controlan las más malas hierbas ya que se alimenta de hojas. |
